 | Bears Richards Blanks Costa Mesa Wednesday, April 22nd, 1981: "He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Costa Mesa manager after his club suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of Dan Richards of the San Bernadino Bears. He held the Costa Mesa Coasters scoreless in a 4-hit whitewash. Richards was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 1 strikeout and 4 walks in a strong outing. In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Dan did a whale of a pitching job." |
