Friday, April 24th, 1981: Sometimes even Eddie West of Oxnard isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.
"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he looked good and made the Pasadena Titans look bad, blanking them by the score of 4-0.
West tossed a 4-hit shutout against them, totaling 1 strikeout and giving up 2 walks.

Wednesday, April 22nd, 1981: "He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Costa Mesa manager after his club suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of Dan Richards of the San Bernadino Bears. He held the Costa Mesa Coasters scoreless in a 4-hit whitewash.
Richards was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 1 strikeout and 4 walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Dan did a whale of a pitching job."
