 | Marcos Captures MKL Award Monday, April 20th, 1981: 23-year-old Marcos Lara sent shock waves through Golden Horseshoe League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Mackenzie League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Lara made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .448 average, 13 hits in 29 at-bats, 3 home runs and 10 runs batted in. Where the Walnut Grove Steeds shortstop goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Lara certainly made his mark last week. |
