Latest FHM and OOTP 14 Updates Bring More Joy to Baseball and Hockey Fans

Thanks to everyone who purchased Franchise Hockey Manager when it first skated around the virtual ice last week. And much appreciation to everyone who signed on during training camp and helped us shape the Beta into the final version of the game.

No first skate is without its tumbles, though, and we've released an FHM update (Version 1.0.3) that you should download and install as soon as you can. It fixes reported bugs and improves many areas of the game, including adding more features! You'll find an impressive list of changes in this forum post.

If you're wondering if you should join the ice with FHM, take a look at this review from Last Word On Sports, in which Larry Scotti gives the game a thumbs up and says it is "certainly the most dynamic hockey simulator out there."

OOTP 14 Gets an Update Too

Hockey seasons may be gearing up around the world as baseball winds down, but the great reviews for Out of the Park Baseball 14 keep coming in, including these thoughts from Steve Ogbamichael at Dynasty Sports Empire: "This game has insane attention to detail, and I'm comfortable calling OOTP 14 the greatest baseball simulator of all time."

We're also continuing to improve OOTP 14. We just released our latest update, which includes:

  • Improved in-game substitution and defensive positioning AI
  • Improved roster AI
  • Improved player evaluation AI
  • Added the option to disable player development for draft-eligible players (does not apply to players in feeder leagues)
  • Fixed issues with minor leaguers being placed on the major league 60-day DL
  • Fixed various other bugs

Be sure to update your copy today. You can click the Check For Update option in the Game menu, or head over to our forum for the download links.

Tales From the OOTP Multi-Verse: The Koana Islands

Many OOTPers have created elaborate fictional worlds, but Ian Silva may have outdone all of them with the Koana Islands, a country with 93 million people whose customs, economy, transit systems, and much more have been crafted by him with loving attention to detail.

Oh, and baseball - Koana Islanders love baseball. The country boasts 11 leagues with nearly 200 teams. A promotion and relegation system moves clubs up and down through the tiers, with the goal of reaching the top-level Carlsberg Super League and finishing in first place to secure its prestigious championship.

"I've always had an interest in maps from a young age, in particular street maps, as I really believe they tell a story," Silva says. You can learn more about the baseball stories told by the Koana Islands in our latest article.
