If you're still looking for the perfect holiday gift for someone special who loves baseball, we'd like to suggest Out of the Park Baseball 12, which is just $19.99. They can find out why Operation Sports gave OOTP 12 a 9.5 score out of 10 and said: "There isn't much higher praise I can give a PC game than this: OotP 12 is one of those games that will keep you saying 'just one more turn' long into the early hours of the morning."

And don't forget that iOOTP Baseball 2011 is only $4.99 at the App Store. It's the perfect virtual stocking stuffer.

Tales From the OOTP Multi-Verse:
the Planetary Extreme Baseball Alliance

"What if?" That's a question we all ask while playing Out of the Park Baseball, and John Rodriguez and the other founders of the Planetary Extreme Baseball Alliance (PEBA) took that query to an extreme when they wondered what would happen if fans grew disillusioned with Major League Baseball in the midst of the steroid scandals. Their pondering led to the creation of the PEBA and its sister organization, the League of the Rising Sun (LRS).

The PEBAverse, as it's known, is a colorful world full of kooky characters and bizarre events, as Rodriguez explains in the latest article on our forum. Where else can you find a player assaulted while wearing an H.R. Pufnstuf costume during a spring training gag gone awry, or a team with plans to paint a "red carpet" from a stadium restaurant down to the outfield? Star Trek actor William Shatner and his unknown son Hector even get involved in the mix.

Of course, such a rich world begs for some ancillary storytelling, and that's where award-winning author Ron Collins steps in with "See the PEBA on $25 a Day," a travelogue starring out-of-work college grad Casey Neal and his buddy Dan-o as they visit all the PEBA stadiums one summer.

Collins also manages an LRS team with its own off-the-field drama, and as he explains in another article, the PEBAverse is "about the shared experience of this alternate world that is created by the collaboration between the development team and 40 or so wildly creative owners each playing the game under their own vision."

We hope you enjoyed this newsletter and wish you and your loved ones a Happy New Year!
