Hi everyone! Out of the Park Developments has decided to send out newsletters periodically, to try to stay in touch with those of you who have purchased games from Out of the Park Developments, but who perhaps aren't frequent visitors to our message boards. We have a lot of news we'd like to pass along this time, so let's get right to it!

SEGA and OOTP part ways
First off, we have some big news. OOTP Developments and SEGA have agreed to part company, so OOTP is no longer part of SEGA/Sports Interactive. Click here for a link to Sports Interactive's press release on this topic.

OOTP Developments originally partnered with Sports Interactive several years ago. Sports Interactive was subsequently purchased by SEGA. Any such purchase brings with it a degree of uncertainty, so, the possibility of OOTP becoming independent again was one that we had been aware of for some time. Luckily, the split has been entirely friendly, and we have nothing but the deepest respect and thanks for everyone at Sports Interactive and SEGA who helped make OOTP what it is today! We really feel that this experience has helped us grow both as game developers and business men.

We can't stress strongly enough that this split does not mean that Out of the Park Baseball will be going away! We're tremendously proud of OOTPB 2007 and the excellent reviews and feedback we've received this year, and much of that is thanks to our wonderful community. We're going to continue improving the game and listening to all of your excellent suggestions.

Again, we'd like to express our profound thanks to the SEGA and Sports Interactive team for all of their hard work making OOTPB 2007 a success, especially Marc Duffy! We'll miss you around here, don't be a stranger!

We know this news has probably raised a lot of questions. Please check out this thread on our forums, where we have posted some answers to questions we suppose will be foremost in your minds after this news. Please feel free to ask us any further questions as well, and we'll do our best to respond!

Send in your OOTP suggestions!
We're already starting to look at the next version of Out of the Park Baseball. We take feedback from our customers very seriously, and on our forums we have a forum for registering suggestions about the next version of OOTP. This suggestion forum will remain open for one more week, until the end of September 28th. After that, we'll be compiling and reviewing the suggestions and deciding which of these will be added as new features or improvements in the next version of the game. If you'd like to help influence the direction of Out of the Park Baseball, be sure to post your suggestions on the forum by next Friday!

Now recruiting beta testers for next year!
We're now officially accepting applications for next year's beta team. Last year, the beta team had over 100 participants. We try to build a team with a wide range of skills, experience with OOTP, and playing styles. We also encourage the participation of users who may have bought the game before and been very disappointed. In other words, you don't have to be a "fanboy" to get added to the beta team. Beta testers receive a free copy of the game.

Beta testing general begins near the end of the year, and continues pretty much through the whole year, although of course the busiest time is that leading up to the release of the game in Spring. If you are interested in becoming a beta tester, please fill out our beta team application form. The application process will be open through Friday, October 5th, after which we will spend some time selecting the team members. So, please don't expect to hear back from us until the middle of October. We get a LOT of beta applications, so please don't feel offended if you aren't accepted. Also, the beta team often changes throughout the process. Members drop out due to personal issues or time conflicts, so there's a good chance that you could get added to the team at a later date if this happens, or if we decide to increase the size of the team.

If you were on last year's team, we would appreciate it if you would still fill out an application. This tells us that you are still interested in testing next year. Please note that not all 2007 testers are guaranteed a spot on the team again for 2008. We try to change the team each year to bring new perspectives and a fresh outlook.

More news coming soon...
This isn't all the news we have, but we've already been awfully long-winded for a simple newsletter. Please keep an eye out for another newsletter withing the coming days with more information!

Thanks very much for all of your support!
